#RockReport JV vs Zionsville

The Westfield Junior Varsity football team played their third game of the season on Saturday against the Eagles of Zionsville.  The JV offense struggled early but was able to get some explosive plays and run away with the victory for the Rocks, 33-14

Rocks JV offense sputtered a bit early on in the game but were able to muster two field goals on the first two drives.  The Rocks offense was able to decipher the Eagle defense by utilizing sophomore receiver Jackson Wasserstrom and his explosive play making capability.  Jackson finished the game with 4 touchdowns & multiple acrobatic catches on the sideline.  Junior quarterback Nick Talley was able to engineer multiple drives to give the Rocks the lead by halftime.  The Rocks would not relinquish the lead from that point forward.

The JV Rocks defense lived by the motto, “bend but don’t break”.  The Rocks allowed multiple explosive plays to the Eagles offense, but 3 times in the first half fortified their defenses on the goal line and deny the Eagles entry into pay dirt.  The Rocks also forced multiple takeaways during the game.  Sophomore linebacker Evan Canon lead the charge with an interception early in the first half.  Junior cornerback Kyle Pape, sophomore cornerback Thaddeus O’Neill, and freshman cornerback Dillon Thieneman added interceptions later in the game for the Rocks.  Sophomore defensive tackle Kyle Widmer was the keystone of the defense and earned the defensive player of the game award with his dominante play in the middle of the defense.

The JV Rocks football team will look to keep their momentum going when they play noblesville High School on Saturday September 14th at 10 a.m at Beaver Stadium in noblesville Indiana.
