Story of the Season

We couldn't be more excited to kickoff another season of Shamrock football and we want everyone to be a part of it, that's why we are partnering with Story of the Season to give everyone a way to closely follow and become a part of our story while helping to support Shamrock football!

What is it?
Each week Story of the Season collects all video highlights, articles, interviews, photos, behind the scenes videos and more and publishes a comprehensive digital newsletter that recaps the varsity, JV and freshman games right in your inbox! Plus, you can become a part of the story by uploading and sharing videos and photos from the game! At the end of the season, you get a digital yearbook to keep forever.

What does it cost? 
A weekly subscription and permanent yearbook is only a one time gift of $49.99 and proceeds go back to the football program.

Thank You, Dee!

This post already appeared on the athletics site, and we re-posted to our Facebook page, but we thought it important enough to deserve a re-posting here as well. We would love to have a packed house to honor Dee.

Dee Mahoney, our beloved athletic trainer, is retiring at the end of this school year. We would like to honor and celebrate her 25 years of dedication, expertise, and friendship on Friday, January 18th at the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys Basketball doubleheader. We will have a reception area/hospitality room from 6:30-8:30 PM in a classroom next to the gym. We will also recognize her prior to the start of the varsity boys game around 7:30 PM. All former and current athletes, coaches, and parents are invited to attend to help celebrate the care and love Dee has given Shamrock Nation. This will be a great night for a great person!!

Pizza Fundraiser at Jan's

Tonight, from 5PM to 9PM, there's a buffet at the Westfield Jan's Village Pizza. A portion of the proceeds go to our gridiron group, so if you're in the mood for pizza tonight, stop by and help us out! If you'd like more details, give them a call at the number below:

2017 Highlight Video

Great night at the banquet last night honoring this year's team, and in particular the senior class. Once a Rock always a Rock. Lots of good things to look forward to, as well.

Hurricane Relief

Second posting of the day is an announcement for this Friday. We're trying to fill a semi with food and supply items in support of the folks affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Please see the flyer below and consider bringing a few items to the game Friday in addition to your standard Rocks gear. You can also bring donations to the other drop-off locations listed below up until the 25th.

Special Olympics Football Clinic

Each year, one of our favorite events for the pure love of the game is the Special Olympics clinic. This year, the event will be held on Saturday 9/16. For more information, see the flyer below:

Stacked Shamrocks

Westfield's Stacked Pickle is doing a promo for the football team. From 4pm to 9pm tomorrow, if you stop in, have a bite to eat, and mention you are there for the Rocks, then our booster club gets a slice of the pie. These fine folks help us out with all sorts of stuff throughout the year, so please stop by! You have to eat anyway, right?

Announcement: BW3's on Wednesday

BW3's in Westfield is doing a promo for us on Wednesday night. All orders, dine in or carry out, between 6-9pm will donate 20% to the Shamrock Booster Club. Considering that we're facing the Cardinals this Friday, I'd say it's a great week to feast on some fried bird. So, head out to B-dubs on Wednesday and support your Rocks!

New Rock Helmets

It's getting close to the end of the Indianapolis Colts Helmets competition. It would be great to nominate the champs for new 5-star helmets, keeping our hard-working players safe. You can help us by nominating your Rocks, making sure we are well represented for the final drawing (we already won one of the preliminary drawings way back in week 2). Semi-State Kickoff Time

Kickoff has officially been moved back to 7:30pm for the Semi-State contest this Friday. There are only four 5A teams still alive, that means only two 5A games in the entire state! One of them will be just down the road in Riverview Health Stadium. Come out and cheer on your Rocks.

A reminder from the Gridiron Club:

We have our final restaurant fundraiser tonight (Oct 4) at Five Guys Burgers from 5:00-9:00.  It is one of the boys' favorite fundraisers we do.  Please come out and support the boys and the Grid Iron Club.

We're big fans of both the WHS volleyball team and Hamilton County First Responders. So, imagine our enthusiasm when they told us about an upcoming opportunity to celebrate both on the same night. Reminder: 20 Year Celebration

Just wanted to throw out a last reminder for tomorrow's game that we'll be celebrating 20 years of Rocks. If you're looking for the details, check out our previous post here. See you all there!

Celebrating 20 Years

A reminder from the Westfield Athletics Department about the upcoming game on Friday:

We will be "Celebrating 20 Years".  Westfield Athletics is excited to celebrate the 20th year in the new high school. The current building opened for the 1997-1998 school year and 2016-17 will mark the 20th year. In honor of this milestone, Westfield Athletics will be recognizing our former athletes that graduated between the years of 1998-2016. We will have 2 recognition ceremonies. The first recognition event will be at a varsity football game on Friday September 2, 2016 when the Rocks take on the Zionsville Eagles. The 2nd recognition event will take place at a varsity boys basketball game on Saturday January 14, 2017 when the Rocks host the Lafayette Jeff Bronchos.  Anyone registered prior to Friday, August 26th will be assured a free t-shirt.

2016 Season Photos

I also wanted to note that, on the blog, the season photo album link has been updated. I dump all of the photos I get there, so feel free to peruse. Shamrock Preseason Store

Practice has started. The 2016 football season is almost underway. Next Friday will be the scrimmage with Ben Davis, and then on August 19th, opening kickoffs will be boomed across the state of Indiana. If you're a Rock fan, you should be pretty excited.

If you'd like to wear your excitement, both now and in the games to come, we've been able to set up a temporary storefront for Rocks gear! In the past, we've done this by handing out order forms to players. Then, they will ask friends and family what they want, and hopefully they get to you before the deadline. It worked okay, but we're excited to announce this year that we have transitioned to an online storefront. All you need is THE LINK (access code: 36849) and you can place an order for yourself. Hopefully this will make it easier for Rocks fans everywhere to get some cool green gear.

There is a nice little bonus opportunity. If we order enough, we'll be able to outfit our volunteer coaches, both high school and middle school, with free sweatshirts. So order away! Store closes on Friday, August 14th, so make sure to place your orders by then.

In addition to the online storefront, we're excited to be able to offer car decals. If you've ever wanted to rep the Rocks on your vehicle, we have decals available. These have to be done the old fashioned way, so print off the order form below and find a way to get it in to Coach Gilbert by Friday, August 14th. If you have any questions about this one, there's a number on the form. Again, if we order enough, we'll be able to give a few to our volunteer coaches.

Two Items of Note

There are two events coming your way this week that we wanted to post a reminder for:

1. On Thursday, July 14th is the annual Colts Leadership Challenge Blood Drive. We have historically collected a lot of blood for this worthy cause, and would like to keep it up. The blood drive is at Westfield Middle School from 3pm-8pm.
2. On Friday, July 16th, the Rocks will be washing cars to raise team funds at the First Merchants Bank in Westfield from 10am-2pm. Stop by to support your Rocks and leave with a shiny car.

Stacked Shamrocks

Our community is growing by leaps and bounds these days. Grand Park is bringing in a ton of new businesses, and one of those has partnered with our Gridiron Club to tie a fundraiser to their grand opening. Food is free (!) and free-will donations will go to our Gridiron Club. It will be a limited menu, but what a cool way to open! Please consider stopping by to support both the Stacked Pickle and your Rocks.
