The Rocks’ defensive front played aggressively vs. the Miller run and pressured their passing attempts constantly. Player of the game Seth Nanna impressed with multiple tackles for loss. The newcomer to the Rocks program hit his stride in this game, displaying the force he can exert from his position on the defensive line. Along with Nanna, inside linebacker Will Byers had a breakout game, earning Mr. Consistency honors for his play. Big plays by the defense included two interceptions -- one by Reece Weyer to end the half and one by Eli Carter returned for a touchdown.
Offensively, the Rocks were led by running back Jalen Herron. Herron found the Millers’ edge multiple times and sped to the end zone for two touchdowns. Bucking multiple tacklers, Herron combined brute force with his catlike speed. For his overall dependability performance as a teammate, practice player, and game player, wide receiver Chase Foreman won Mr. Consistency honors. The big play of the game came on a deep pass from quarterback Collin Lindsey to Eli Carter. The subsequent play was a touchdown.
On special teams, Charlie Dager won player of the game honors. Dager found himself in on every tackle for the kickoff squad. Pairing with Dager for Mr. Consistency is the kicker Grant Harlowe, whose kickoffs pinned the Miller offense back to start in their own red zone. The big play of the game was Eli Carter’s punt return to get the offense into scoring position.
The Rocks return to action on Monday, September 23rd as they head to Hamilton Southeastern for a Hoosier Crossroads Conference showdown. Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m.
