#RockReport JV at Noblesville

The Westfield Junior Varsity football team played their fourth game of the season on Saturday against the Millers from the east. This match-up was a physical battle of wills from the first kick-off until the final whistle blew. The JV Rocks were able to grid  away with the victory, 10-7.

Rocks JV offense experienced many self-inflicted stops on the day with penalties. These penalties stopped many drives dead in their tracks despite the effort of the Rocks offensive player of the game, sophomore wide receiver Amarion Ballard. Ballard supplied several sparks for the offense with his ability to catch & run to gain extra yards. Junior wide receiver Adam Garrettson & freshman running back Dillon Thieneman were consistent contributors for the Rocks, keeping the ball moving with many clutch catches. At the end of the 4th quarter, the Rocks found themselves down by 4 points (7-3) with 2+ minutes left in the game and 70 yards to traverse. After many spectacular plays & several setbacks, the Rocks junior quarterback Nick Talley was able to find sophomore wide receiver Jackson Wasserstrom for the game winning touchdown with under a minute to play.

The JV Rocks defense played physical throughout the entire game. The Rocks D was able to shut the Miller offense down drive after drive. The performances of the game were bookended by a goal line stand to start the game and a red zone stop to end the game and get the ball back to the offense for the game winning score. The player of the game was freshman cornerback Dillon Thieneman who had 2 interceptions on the game (1 as time expired to seal the victory). The book ends for the consistent play for the Rocks defense were the book ends on the defensive line, junior defensive ends Seth Martin & Ayden Hartman had outstanding games. The play of the game came after an interception by the Rocks offense, with the team down by 4 points and the Millers in Rocks territory. The defense rose up, stayed united, and got the ball back for the offense.

The JV Rocks football team will look to keep their momentum going when they play Hamilton Southeastern High School on Saturday September 21st at 10 a.m at home.
