#RockReport JV vs FC

The Westfield Junior Varsity football team played their final game of the season on Saturday October 19th.  The Rocks played their ninth game of the season against the Flashes of Franklin Central High School.  The Rocks won a hard fought game with a smothering defensive performance along with clutch offensive plays.  The Rocks won 17-14 and finished the season as JV HCC Champions and a record of 8-1.

The JV Rocks offense was able to sustain multiple drives but seemed to lose steam as they entered the low red zone.  Sophomore quarterback Maximus Webster & junior Quarterback Nick Talley split time on the day and led multiple impressive drives.  Offensive player of the game, sophomore Evan Cannon, ran the ball as hard as any player had all season.  Cannon ran behind a great offensive line anchored by junior center Dakota Arvin.  The big play of the game came in the 4th Quarter when Webster called his own number and was able to punch the ball into the endzone for the game winning touchdown.

The JV Rocks defense had an outstanding Saturday afternoon.  The linebackers and defensive line were aggressive and physical.  The player of the game was junior linebacker Gabe Arvin.  Consistently making plays all day was junior defensive tackle Seth Poriah.  Arvin & Poriah along with the rest of the high flying hard hitting Rocks defense shut the Flashes out in the first half and produced the play of the game with sophomore linebacker Maguire Graybill tipped a pass and sophomore cornerback Ryan Clayton intercepted the ball.

The JV Rocks football season for 2019 is over with an 8-1 record and the title of HCC Champions!
