#RockReport Freshmen at Avon

The Freshman Rocks of Westfield traveled southwest to take on the Orioles of Avon in a very physical football contest. The Rocks held firm and earned a 37-14 victory, their 6th of the season.

The Rocks shined across the board. Offensively, they were led by the dynamic running back Jalen Herron, who rushed for two touchdowns. Herron earned player of the game honors. Quarterback Tyler Dikos stepped up and led his team throughout the second half, earning the Mr. Consistency award. There were two big plays -- both of which were deep passes. The first was quarterback Collin Lindsey’s perfectly placed touchdown pass caught by Eli Carter who ran it all the way down the field into the endzone. The second was Dikos’s deep pass to first year wide receiver Gabriel Medina.

On defense, Dillon Thieneman joined the freshman Rocks and starred at defensive back, making tackles all over the field. Thieneman was the defensive player for the game. Jalen Herron at cornerback and Brent Stone made their presence felt throughout the game, giving up no easy yards to a talented Avon offense. For their performance, they won Mr. Consistency honors. Herron’s pick six interception was the defensive play of the game.

The Rocks starred on special teams as well. Hunter Harris and Reece Weyer earned player of the game honors, while Eli Carter earned consistency honors. The big play was Luis Rodriguez’s first punt of the game, pinning the Avon offense deep in their own territory.

The freshman Rocks will play their final home game on Saturday, October 12th. Kickoff is at 10:00 a.m.
