We get to kickoff our postseason journey tonight. I hope a lot of you plan to make the cold, (possibly) wet trip up to Harrison to see us. If not, we'll be tweeting the scores, so feel free to follow and cheer in warmth. I promise it would be far more exciting to witness our resolve in person, though, and we appreciate every single clapping pair of hands that ends up making the trip.
Solid article in Indy Star today. Check it out here. I would only add that while we're absolutely thankful for the opportunity in front of us this post-season, moving to 5A did not earn us an 8-1 record. We played the same regular season schedule we have for years. We've stood toe to toe with some of the best teams in the state at any level of the game. This group of young men deserves complete recognition for that. I'm very proud to have worked with them and seen their resolve on a daily basis.
Parity is certainly a noble goal, but good teams are also good teams. Butler basketball has made a name for itself in the NCAA "Big Dance" despite enrollment numbers because of the quality of their program, and the dedication and work ethic of their team. I feel like it should be noted that Rocks reflect a similar formula for success, a formula that works in any arena. Resolve will take you far in life, perhaps farther than you may have ever fathomed when your journey began.
Step one tonight. We fight for our lives. We resolve to do everything we can to keep this family together for one more week. That is our focus. Best of luck to all the other teams out there still fighting.
I love fall in in Indiana!
