#RockReport JV vs Brownsburg

The Westfield Junior Varsity football team played their sixth game of the season on Saturday morning, September 22 at Riverview Health Stadium in, finally, fall like temps.  The temperature didn’t cool down the Rocks as they were able to improve to 6-0 with a 47-26 victory over Brownsburg.

The JV Rocks defense started the day with 2 3 and outs while the offense controlled the ball in the first quarter. The defense controlled the game but for a few explosive plays that kept drives alive for the visiting Bulldogs.  The defense was led by David Frey, as he was all over the field.  The consistent play of Christian Huisden covering their dangerous #11 was a key to the victory.  Seth Martin and Hunter Will combined for big play with Martin stripping the football and Will recovering the ball to keep the momentum with The Rocks.

Special Teams also played a huge role in the win.  Eduardo Beltran was Special Teams Player of the Game with 2 FG’s.  Mason Piening’s sure hands and decisive and consistent fielding of all kicks proved to be valuable.  The air was taken out of the Bulldogs early in the game when Special Teams and Sean Sullivan recovered on onside “selfie” to keep the ball for The Rocks after an early score.

The offense continued their scoring from the previous week with their second 45+ point game in as many weeks.  Jack Pfeiffer led the way with 2 TD’s after being out the week before with injury.   Zach Howard held it all together and made it all click on the offensive line with consistent play and leadership all morning.  The play of the game came in the third quarter after the Bulldogs tried to make it interesting with a TD to close to within 10!  Nick Talley to Carson Voohis ran a bubble pump for a long TD to regain the momentum and help seal the W!

The JV Rocks look to keep rolling next Saturday, September 29 at Avon High School at 10 a.m.  See you there!!
