The freshman Rocks of Westfield defeated the visiting Decatur Central Hawks by a score of 20-14. The
Rocks’ defense were a brick wall against the Hawk offense, creating 5 takeaways and scoring a defensive
touchdown. Defensive players of the game were LB Evan Cannon and S Alex Wolf, along with MLB
Bryson Hoover for Mr. Consistency. The big play of the game for defense was the Gerrick Popeye
Williams fumble recovery in the end zone for a defensive touchdown. On special teams, Easton
Snodgrass found his stride on kickoff, pinning the Hawks deep or forcing a touchback every time. Along
with player of the game Snodgrass, Evan Partlow stood out for his consistent effort across all special
teams. The big play of the game was the punt unit’s downed punt at the opponent’s one yard line.
Offensively, Luke Lewis provided consistent effort with another touchdown reception and great
blocking. Jackson Wasserstrom sparked the offense with his touchdown reception in the first quarter.
The Rocks return to action this Saturday, August 1 st , at 10:00 a.m. in Riverview Health Stadium to take on
their rivals down State Road 32, the Zionsville Eagles. Go Rocks!
