Varsity Football traveled over and pounded the Brownsburg Bulldogs on Friday night, 37-13.
Offensively, the Shamrocks broke it open early with a 60 yard touchdown run by Frank Grimes. Devin Reece took over then and was unstoppable every time he touched the football, scoring at will. Nick Ferrer delivered the ball consistently all night, finding Cole McCrary quite a bit as well. Elvin Caldwell helped seal the advantage with a gutsy run when the offense was backed up against its own goal line, providing breathing room for the Rocks.
The Rock Defense kept the Bulldog offense caged, holding them scoreless for the majority of the night. Turner Edwards led the way with big time production on the field, capped by an interception returned 99 yards for a TD. The consistent play of Jacob Robinson and Adam Horkay anchored the stingy D, keeping all of Brownsburg’s offensive weapons chained. A magnificent goal line stand at the 2 yard line proved that the Bulldog O had far more bark than bite.
Shamrock Special Teams did a great job this week, generating extra possessions for the offense. Nick Dowd split the uprights, providing extra cushion for the Rocks and hitting an important Field Goal early. Josh Beer buoyed the positive play in this phase of the game, and Cameron Harrison recovered a key turnover from the Bulldogs.
Special mention should be given to Evan Harlan, Jordan Grimes, and Brock Ginder. These Rocks made significant contributions in preparing the team for the Friday contest. They brought the hammer throughout the week, providing the best possible look for their fellow teammates.
Resolve to support Rocks Football next Friday, when Westfield will host the Zionsville Eagles. Kickoff is at 7:00pm.
