#RockReport JV vs Southport

The Westfield Junior Varsity football team played their second game of the season on Saturday against the Cardinals of Southport Indiana.  The Rocks came out with guns blazing and took a 31-6 lead into halftime and never looked back.  They finished the game with their second decisive victory with a score of 37-24.

The Rocks offense was once again lead by sophomore quarterback Camden Simons who was highly effective completing passes multiple different receivers, including 3 touchdown pass to 3 different receivers; sophomores Elijah Patchett, Mason Cox, and Zach Jankowski.  The first touchdown was a 50 yard touchdown to Cox which gave the Rocks momentum that they would not relinquish.  The Rocks running game was also excellent lead by sophomore guard Jacob Netral.  Sophomore Trevor Lickfeldt and junior Blair Clark gave the Rocks offense a boost with their powerful running styles.

The Rocks defense and special teams had an extremely aggressive and overwhelming day.  The Rocks special teams were a very effective weapon on Saturday.  Junior Kicker Andy Manzur was 1 for 1 on field goals, excellent on kick-offs, and a game changer on punts.  The Rocks defense was ignited by the play of sophomore defensive tackle Luke Honeycutt and junior defensive end Calvin Grenda.  The Rocks recorded numerous negative yardage plays and sacks resulting in a multitude of stalled drives by the Cardinals.  The big play for the defense came when sophomore defensive back Shannon Bola stripped a Southport runner and junior Sean Sykes recovered.

The JV Rocks football team will look to keep their momentum going when they play Southport High School on Saturday August 26th at 10 a.m @ home.
