#RockReport - McCutcheon

Varsity Football returned home this weekend and celebrated with a 42-28 victory over the McCutcheon Mavericks.

Offensively, the Shamrocks continued to roll, illuminating another big number on the scoreboard. Elvin Caldwell stepped up and carried the Westfield ground attack, while Devin Reece continued his dominance through the air. The big play of the night came early with a Frank Grimes rushing touchdown on the first play from scrimmage.

The Rock Defense had a rough first half, but held the Mavericks to only 8 points in the second half, allowing Westfield to take over. Matt Crupi led the way with Mitch Turley’s consistent play at side. The defense snagged several key turnovers and found a way to lock down one of the most explosive players that the team has yet faced.

Shamrock Special Teams contributed again this week with a big punt block from Nick Alatza. Nick Dowd put key points on the board and Mitch Turley’s solid play carried over in this phase as well.

Special mention should be given to Russel Reynolds, Jordan Grimes, and Jamarcus Davis. These Rocks made significant contributions in preparing the team for the Friday contest. They were true hunters throughout the week, providing the best possible look for their fellow teammates.

Resolve to support Rocks Football next Friday, when Westfield will take the short trip over to Noblesville to face the Millers. Kickoff is at 7:00pm.
